Mona Abousleman, MD

"Dr. Abousleman is board certified in family medicine. She earned her medical degree from the University of New Mexico School of Medicine. She completed family medicine training at St. John's Mercy Medical Center in St. Louis, MO.

Dr. Abousleman is from Bernalillo, NM. She spent her early years helping out in her parents hardware store in Bernalillo. She enjoys spending time in the outdoors. Her husband is a radiologist in Santa Fe, specializing in musculoskeletal imaging and procedures. She appreciates the loving support her husband, kids, parents and extended family have always provided."

"I am committed to the health and wellness of all of my patients. My goal is to prevent illness and educate patients about their medical conditions to guide them to better health. I take the time necessary with each patient at each visit to accomplish this. 

Unfortunately, an insurance based practice makes it difficult to spend the time necessary to provide good healthcare for each patient. Insurance, in recent years, is tied to an increasing number of requirements in documentation, records requests, prior authorizations and various insurance notices and alerts that do not actually translate into better patient care. The time to process all of this paperwork takes away from the time I have to spend face to face with each patient to understand their needs and concerns.  

For that reason,  as of  January 1, 2021 I no longer accept insurance payments for care. I care for patients through a Direct Primary Care membership based practice."
