Dr. Thomas Knackstedt, MD

About Dr. Knackstedt

Dr. Knackstedt is a board-certified dermatologist and a fellowship-trained board-certified Mohs surgeon. He holds MD and MPH credentials. He founded Peak Skin Center.

He specializes in skin cancer treatment, complex facial reconstruction and nail surgery. He builds acne treatment plans around the type of acne, how severe it is, how sensitive the skin is and the risk of scarring. He graduated summa cum laude from Presbyterian College with a biology degree.

He earned his medical degree and completed an internal medicine internship at the Medical University of South Carolina. He did a dermatology residency at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center and was Chief Resident in his final year. His fellowship in micrographic surgery and dermatologic oncology was at Dermatology Professionals, Inc., in East Greenwich, RI.

He previously practiced at the Case Western Reserve University MetroHealth Medical Center Department of Dermatology, where he was Vice Chair and Director of Dermatologic Surgery. He also practiced and taught at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. Outside work he enjoys reading, exercising, working on antique cars and traveling.
