About Morgan Smither

Smither is a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner and the owner of Smither Psychiatry. She earned a bachelor's degree from Auburn University and a master's from Eastern Kentucky University. She spent three years on the inpatient psychiatric unit at the University of Kentucky teaching hospital.

She has more than a decade of experience in psychiatric practice in many kinds of settings. She opened her own practice in the Highlands of Louisville, Kentucky, in 2026. She works with patients who have bipolar disorder, ADHD, depression, anxiety, and addiction and substance use disorders.

She also works with people affected by domestic violence, and she enjoys working with older adults. She works with patients affected by PTSD or trauma. She has experience treating schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder and psychosis.

For qualifying patients with PTSD, she can write certifications for Kentucky's medicinal cannabis program. She has guest lectured on addiction and substance use disorders at the University of Kentucky College of Nursing. She sees patients by telehealth when appropriate.
