Dr. Christopher J. Wahl, MD

About Dr. Wahl

Dr. Wahl is fellowship trained in sports medicine, arthroscopy and trauma. He earned his medical degree at Yale University School of Medicine in 1996 and finished his residency there in 2001. In 2002 he completed a fellowship at the Hospital for Special Surgery.

He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and holds its Subspecialty Certificate in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine. He is a member of the physician team at Proliance Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine. His care covers the knee, shoulder, elbow and ankle, and he works with athletes of all ages.

He has experience with professional, elite, endurance and recreational athletes. He performs platelet-rich plasma therapy, and the practice offers virtual visits. He was an Associate Professor and team physician at the University of Washington from 2004 to 2012.

He was head team physician for the San Diego Chargers from 2013 to 2015. He served as Associate Professor and Chief of the Division of Sports Medicine at UC San Diego. He has researched, lectured and published widely on complex knee and shoulder disorders.
