About Katherine Carvlin

Carvlin practices naturopathic primary care at the Institute of Complementary Medicine in Seattle. She earned a Doctorate of Naturopathic Medicine from Bastyr University in 2017 and completed a residency at the Bastyr Center for Natural Health in 2018. Her clinical focus includes environmentally acquired illnesses such as mold-related illness, metal toxicity and multiple chemical sensitivity.

She also works with chronic infections such as Lyme disease, and with Long COVID. She treats mast cell activation syndrome, POTS and other dysautonomia, autoimmune conditions, chronic fatigue, digestive disorders and hormone imbalances. Her treatment plans may include nutrition and lifestyle medicine, botanical medicine, supplementation and bioidentical hormone replacement therapy.

She believes chronic illness is rarely caused by a single factor and that everyday environmental exposures are the most overlooked factor in chronic disease. She also believes every patient deserves to be heard. She serves as President of the National Association of Environmental Medicine and wrote its Mold Illness Clinical Guidelines.

Away from work, she enjoys tending her garden, spending time outdoors and exploring the Pacific Northwest.
