She earned a Biochemistry degree from Smith College in 1989, graduating with high honors, and attended the University of Washington School of Medicine. She completed an internal medicine internship and a dermatology residency at University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle, and served as Chief Resident in the University of Washington Division of Dermatology. She chairs the Phynet Dermatology Medical Advisory Board.
She especially enjoys caring for patients aged 90 and older. In her spare time she enjoys exercise, classical music and opera.
