Dr. Arlene McCain, MD

About Dr. McCain

Dr. McCain earned a Bachelor of Science in biology, with a minor in theology, from Georgetown University. She earned her medical degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School in 2007. She served as chief resident at EVMS-Portsmouth Family Medicine.

She founded McCain Whole Health Care. She is one of the first people in the nation to hold the NBC-HWC health and wellness coach certification. She works with people as they sort out their own motivations for healthy change and supports their progress toward a thriving life.

She wrote the book Embrace Grace, New Medicine for a Wounded World, which won a Nautilus Book Award. She co-created the podcast Physicians, Heal with Dr. Jason Asistores, which shares stories of physician burnout and healing. She also shares views on direct primary care on the podcast DPC Rocks.
