About Stephanie M. East

She received a bachelor's degree in nursing from Radford University in 1996 and joined the U.S. Navy as a registered nurse. She later completed a master's degree at Lynchburg College and a post-master's program at Walden University. She is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.

Her work has included inpatient, outpatient, residential, group home, emergency psych and state hospital settings. East founded Sound Mind Psych. She offers medication management and diagnosis with a holistic approach.

She treats ADHD, mood disorders, psychotic disorders and trauma-related disorders. She especially enjoys working with clients with Autism Spectrum Disorder through testing, diagnosis, management and treatment options. She sees clients ages 18 to 65 and provides autism evaluations for children age 6 through adults.

She works with a patient's therapist and shares notes, since she sees treatment as most helpful alongside counseling or talk therapy. She views medication as one part of what helps a patient stay healthy.
