About Dr. Lau

Dr. Lau grew up in Kansas City, Missouri, and attended high school in Amarillo, Texas. He earned a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Texas A&M University, where he was elected to Tau Beta Pi and graduated magna cum laude. He attended UT Southwestern Medical School in Dallas from 1992 to 1996 and completed his internal medicine internship and residency at UT Southwestern Medical Center from 1997 to 1999. He is board certified in Internal Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Dr. Lau began private practice in 1999 at the Medical City Hospital campus and relocated to Preston Center in 2017. He is affiliated with Medical City Dallas Hospital and Baylor University Medical Center. He has served as Section Chief of Internal Medicine, director of the Hospitalist Program, and Chairman of Utilization Review and Health Information Management at Medical City. He is a member of the Texas Medical Association, and North Texas Preferred Health Partners offers a concierge medicine service that patients can subscribe to. He was named to D Magazine's Best Doctors list for Dallas County from 2005 to 2016 and again in 2022 and 2023, has been a Castle Connolly Top Doctor since 2011, and was named in Modern Luxury Dallas Magazine's doctors guide for 2022-2023.

"I believe health care should be tailored to one's individual goals and perspectives in life," says Dr. Lau. He also said, "I provide each patient the time and attention that their health - the most precious resource - deserves." Outside of practice, he enjoys time with family, reading, golf, fishing, travel, and films, with interests in comparative religion, futurism, and cosmology.
