About Dr. Toyos
Dr. Toyos is the Medical Director and Founder of Toyos Clinic. The clinic was established in 1998, when he was recruited to staff a neonatal intensive care unit in Jackson, Tennessee. He handled eye care at that unit for 10 years and served as Medical Director of the Jackson Madison Surgery Center.
He opened a clinic in Memphis after the Memphis Grizzlies asked him to be the team's ophthalmologist. Dr. Toyos specializes in cataract surgery, LASIK, glaucoma and dry eye. He developed IPL technology and protocols for dry eye disease and aesthetics, and he invented the Intense Pulse Light procedure for dry eye, also called DELIT.
He has trained hundreds of surgeons in the US and abroad on surgical techniques, medications and new technologies. He has worked with sports organizations including the NFL, NBA, MLB, the World Boxing Association, the Memphis Grizzlies, the Seattle Mariners and the Memphis Redbirds. With Dr. Melissa Toyos, he co-created the Toyos Foundation, a 501c3 non-profit.
