About Dr. Allen

Dr. Allen earned undergraduate degrees in biology and chemistry at East Carolina University. While in medical school, Dr. Allen directed the school's student-run free clinic in rural eastern North Carolina. Dr. Allen trained in a family medicine residency in Hendersonville, NC and met Dr. Downing there.

Beginning in 2018, Dr. Allen co-founded the direct primary care practice New River Family Wellness with Dr. Downing. Dr. Allen sees all ages, from newborns to geriatrics, including routine prenatal care. Dr. Allen performs vasectomies, with consultations available without a referral.

Dr. Allen also performs elective circumcisions on newborns less than two weeks of age. With Dr. Downing, Dr. Allen performs colposcopies, and a referral is required.

Membership and fees

Membership at New River Family Wellness is $25 a month for ages 0 to 18 and $50 a month for ages 19 to 29.

It is $60 a month for ages 30 to 44 and $80 a month for ages 45 to 64.

It is $90 a month for ages 65 to 99 and $1 a month for ages 100 and over.

Membership includes every routine office test or procedure with no extra bills.
