About Dr. Allen

Dr. Allen earned his medical degree at the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University and completed his internal medicine residency at Duke University. He had prior training as a pharmacist, which gave him a foundation in medication management. He spent 11 years as a hospitalist at Mission Hospital and served as Medical Director of its Outpatient Anticoagulation Clinic.

In 2020 he moved to outpatient internal medicine in Wilmington, where he practiced for four years. In 2024 he returned to Asheville to begin concierge medicine with Blue Ridge Premier Medicine. He likes concierge medicine because it lets him pair his inpatient and outpatient experience with deeper patient relationships.

His view of long-term health stresses exercise, good nutrition and stress reduction. He has taught residents and medical students throughout his career.
