About Dr. Stevens
Dr. Stevens earned a bachelor of arts in zoology from UNC-Chapel Hill and a Doctor of Medicine from East Carolina University School of Medicine. His family practice residency was with the Fairfax Family Practice Program at the Medical College of Virginia. In 1991 he completed the first sports medicine fellowship at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
He is board certified in family practice and holds a Certificate of Added Qualification in sports medicine. He founded Carolina Family Practice & Sports Medicine in 2003 and established Essential Health & Wellness in 2009. In 2018 he became Medical Director of Extivita RTP, a hyperbaric oxygen therapy facility in Research Triangle Park.
He has been team physician for the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes since 1997 and has served as company physician for the Carolina Ballet. He enjoys surfing, triathlon and almost any form of exercise.
