About Dr. Petrescu
Dr. Petrescu earned her MD in 2001 at Grigore T. Popa University of Medicine and Pharmacy and was originally trained as a surgeon in Romania. Her surgery residency was at St. Spiridon University Hospital in Romania. She completed an internal medicine residency at Rochester General Hospital, where she was Chief Resident.
She worked as an academic hospitalist at Rochester General Hospital and served on the teaching faculty of its Internal Medicine Residency Program for more than a decade. Dr. Petrescu is the founder and CEO of Athena Direct Primary Care & Lifestyle Medicine, the first direct primary care practice in the Rochester, New York area. Her work focuses on nutrition, lifestyle changes and preventing chronic disease, with a special interest in women's health, menopause and metabolic wellness.
She combines evidence-based medicine with a personal approach to prevention and wellness. Outside work, she enjoys classical music and piano, as well as fine art, skiing, hiking and camping.
