About Petra Vospernik

Petra Vospernik practices psychology with Vienna Praxis in New York City. She earned her PhD in Clinical Psychology in New York, and holds a law degree earned at the University of Vienna, plus a graduate diploma in international relations through the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS). She served as Senior Legal Counsel for the European Central Bank, before training as a clinical psychologist. She trained and worked in multiple international settings, including the Tavistock Clinic in London, the Cassel Hospital in Richmond (UK), Goethe University in Germany, and Lenox Hill and Mount Sinai hospitals in New York.

She founded and directs Vienna Praxis, a group psychology practice with locations in Madison Square Park and the West Village of New York City. She is an active board member of the Freud Foundation US and has close ties to the Sigmund Freud Museum in Vienna. She offers therapy in English and German for bilingual clients. Her individual therapy focuses on professionals working in high-pressure corporate, legal, financial, and technology careers, and her couples therapy draws on evidence-based methods in communication, problem-solving, and attachment theory.
