About Dr. Halpert
Dr. Halpert graduated from Albany Medical College and completed his residency training at Albany Medical Center Hospital. He also holds a bachelor's degree in Geology from Skidmore College. Before medical school he took pre-medical courses at Hudson Valley Community College and the University at Albany.
He worked in several area emergency departments before moving to urgent care. He served as urgent care medical director for the Prime Care Physician's group, and later for St. Peter's Health Partners. He founded Priority 1 Urgent Care in April 2019.
He has said he opened his own urgent care center because of a noticeable decline in the personalized doctor-patient relationship, which he feels is central to quality health care. For many years he worked as a paramedic provider in the Capital District and Mid-Hudson Valley regions of New York. He was also an EMS administrator with the Town of Guilderland and worked extensively as an EMS educator.
Away from work, he enjoys sport fishing and plays in several area softball leagues.

Priority 1 Urgent Care participates with select health insurance plans and also sells a monthly subscription membership program.
Introductory pricing for the subscription is $125 per month with a 3-month minimum. It covers up to 3 urgent care visits per month. Visits beyond 3 are billed separately, and outside labs, imaging and prescriptions are not included.
