About Dr. Barness

Michael Barness, MD, is a psychiatrist at Mindful Medicine in Livingston, New Jersey. He studied psychology at Pennsylvania State University for his bachelor's degree, then went on to earn his medical degree at Medical University of the Americas, graduating in 2011. Dr. Barness completed his psychiatry residency at the University of Nevada School of Medicine and is a board-certified psychiatrist licensed to practice in both New Jersey and New York.

He previously worked as Medical Director at GenPsych Livingston, treating adolescents and adults, and was also the Vice Chairman of behavioral health within the Atlantic Health System and Medical Director for inpatient psychiatric services with RWJ Barnabas.

Mindful Medicine lists a fee of $500 for an initial 60-minute psychiatric evaluation and $250 for a 30-minute medication management follow-up.
