About Dr. Wostrel

Lauren Wostrel, MD, is a family medicine physician at Zion Asher Family Physicians in Mount Vernon, Missouri, which she co-founded under the direct primary care model. She earned her medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine and completed her family medicine residency through the UCLA-affiliated Rio Bravo Family Medicine Residency Program in Bakersfield, California. Dr.

Before co-founding her practice, she trained extensively in women's health and worked in one of California's largest healthcare systems. She has also practiced correctional medicine for three years across 23 counties in Missouri. She has practiced under Missouri's assistant physician licensure law since 2018. Wostrel believes care should be proactive rather than reactive, prioritizing time spent listening to patients.

She focuses her practice on chronic disease, preventive care, urgent visits and hormone therapy, using a root-cause approach. Outside the clinic, she enjoys farming and off-grid, self-sufficient living.
