About Dr. Matthys
Dr. Matthys earned a BA in Human Biology from the University of Kansas. He received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine and graduated in 1995. He completed a transitional medicine internship at Park Lane Medical Center, then internal medicine and dermatology residencies at Cuyahoga Falls General Hospital.
He finished his dermatology residency in 2000. He founded Sunflower Dermatology in 2004, and it joined Epiphany Dermatology in January 2021. He works in general, surgical and cosmetic dermatology.
He is involved in education and in research and clinical trials that have led to publications in major dermatology journals. He is also the founder of eclipseRx, a digital health company focused on personalized information about cutaneous aging and sun-related risks. He served as president of the Kansas City Dermatologic Society in 2012-2013.
Outside work, he enjoys traveling, antique cars and playing the guitar.
