About Dr. Awonuga

Dr. Awonuga earned his medical degree at the University of Ibadan Medical School in Nigeria in 1979. He completed an Ob/Gyn residency at Lagos University Teaching Hospital in Nigeria, plus a residency and fellowship in reproductive endocrinology and infertility in the United Kingdom. He completed a third Ob/Gyn residency at Maimonides Medical Center in New York from 2000 to 2003.

His reproductive endocrinology and infertility fellowship at Wayne State University ran from 2007 to 2010. Dr. Awonuga founded Michigan Fertility Services and is its medical director. He joined Wayne Health in 2013.

He served as Division head of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at Wayne State University from 2017 to 2021. He holds the Kamran S. Moghissi, MD Endowed Chair in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at Wayne State University. He has served as Director of the Polycystic Ovary Syndrome Center at Wayne State University.

He has performed over 5,000 IVF egg collections.
