About Dr. Lu

Dr. Lu is a reproductive endocrinologist and fertility specialist at The Fertility Institute, with clinic locations in New Orleans (Metairie) and Mandeville. He began practicing in 1996 after earning his medical degree at Georgetown University School of Medicine and completing residency at Louisiana State University Medical Center in New Orleans. He completed an obstetrics, gynecology and reproductive endocrinology fellowship at the Mayo Clinic and Foundation in Rochester, Minnesota.

He is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center, School of Medicine. His areas of focus include fertility treatments and assisted reproductive technologies such as IVF, ICSI, preimplantation genetic testing (PGT) and fertility preservation. His specialties include fertility care with donor egg or sperm and male and female infertility.

He chose the field because infertility treatment combines medication, surgery and advanced laboratory technologies, and because the emotional distress of fertility problems must be addressed in every treatment plan. He makes an effort to build trust with every patient and to make sure they understand every fertility option so they can make an informed decision.
