About Dr. Umbehr
Dr. Umbehr studied human nutritional sciences with a minor in biology at Kansas State University and graduated in 2003. As an undergraduate, he did extensive research on the effects of vitamin A on lung cancer. He received his medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine in 2007 and completed his family medicine residency at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
He opened Atlas MD, a practice he had been dreaming about for nearly a decade. He calls it his ideal medical practice, one where he can focus on patients. He launched the Atlas MD electronic medical record software in 2013.
The ModernMD podcast tells how his inspiration for a self-pay membership practice model came from working with his dad in the trash hauling business. Bill Frist's Substack interviewed him as the founder of Atlas MD, which he considers a blue collar concierge medical service that nearly any American can afford.
