About Dr. Schumacher

Dr. Schumacher earned a biology degree at Hillsdale College in 1988 and his MD at Indiana University Medical School in 1992. He trained in family practice and served as chief resident at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. In 1995 he began practicing in Marshall County with Dr. Kent Guild and established Plymouth Family and Internal Medicine.

In 2013 he helped pioneer a new way to deliver employer-based healthcare in Valparaiso and Merrillville with an Indianapolis-based company. He opened Schumacher Family Medicine in 2017, and it is his solo practice. The practice holds that a good doctor-patient relationship is at the core of good health care, and it does not plan to grow into a large practice.

The practice offers house calls when necessary and a free 30-minute consultation to prospective patients.
