Dr. Kara J. Nance, MD

About Dr. Nance

Dr. Nance graduated with honors from Princeton University. She earned her medical degree at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in 2000 and finished second in her class. She completed an internship at the University of Chicago Medical Center and an internal medicine residency at the University of Chicago.

The American Board of Internal Medicine certifies her in Internal Medicine, and she is also board certified in Obesity Medicine. Dr. Nance has been physician and founder of WellessenceMD since 2011. She is an independent internal medicine doctor at Ascension Illinois in Schaumburg and has a hospital affiliation with Ascension Alexian Brothers.

Her clinical interest is diagnostic medicine and chronic disease management. Her personalized primary care addresses conditions that affect adults as they age. Patients with depression, anxiety or PTSD can receive Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy from her.

She completed a yearlong program in Psychedelic Medicine at Naropa University. Sarah Peyton certified her to provide Resonant Healing for trauma. She is a Certified Trainer in Nonviolent Communication.

She has taught Nonviolent Communication, Enneagram studies and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction. She enjoys hiking, biking, yoga, reading and traveling.
