About Dr. Tyndall-Smith

Dr. Tyndall-Smith co-founded Gainesville Direct Primary Care Physicians. She says her decision to start the practice grew from a wish to practice medicine in a way that puts quality, accessibility and strong physician-patient relationships first. She moved to Gainesville, Florida in 2013 after practicing family medicine in York, Pennsylvania. She earned her medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine and began her career at York Hospital, one of the nation's oldest community family medicine residency programs. She is board certified in family medicine.

Before pursuing medicine, Dr. Tyndall-Smith spent four years teaching at the post-secondary level, an experience she says still shapes how she communicates with patients. She served as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the University of Florida Department of Community Health and Family Medicine, where she taught medical students and served on the Medicine Interview Committee. While working at a federally qualified health center, she was honored with the Community Ambassador APEX Award, recognizing her volunteer work and dedication to community health. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree from George Washington University.

Outside the clinic, Dr. Tyndall-Smith studies piano, sings in church and community choirs, celebrates her Caribbean heritage through cooking and cultural experiences, and stays active with fitness training and racquet sports.
