Dr. Minas is an attending orthopedic surgeon and Director of the Cartilage Repair Center at the Paley Orthopedic & Spine Institute in West Palm Beach, Florida. He joined Paley in 2018 after 30 years at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston and Harvard Medical School. He is Professor Emeritus of Orthopedic Surgery at Harvard Medical School.

He established the first cartilage repair center in the United States. He adapted the autologous chondrocyte implantation (ACI) technique and first brought it to practice in the United States from Sweden. South Florida Hospital News says he specializes in cartilage repair and preservation, cartilage transplants, meniscal repair, osteotomies and joint replacement.

The same outlet says he has offered ACI for knee cartilage defects since 1995. His work in patient-specific knee replacement led to a family of tissue-preserving customized implants.
