About Dr. Agatston
Dr. Agatston is a cardiologist who created the Calcium Score, also called the Agatston Score. He developed it as a method of screening for coronary calcium, together with Dr. Warren Janowitz. He founded The Agatston Center for Preventive Medicine in Miami Beach and still leads the practice as its Chief Executive Officer.
He leads the center's preventive cardiology work, which pioneered non-invasive methods such as the Calcium Score to measure and manage heart health. He co-created the first Preventive Cardiovascular Fellowship at the Houston Methodist DeBakey Heart and Vascular Center. He wrote The South Beach Diet, a New York Times number-one seller, and more than 200 scientific papers and abstracts.
