About Dr. Handel

Dr. Handel entered practice in Los Angeles in 1980 after fellowship training in England and Scotland. He performs the majority of his outpatient surgical procedures in his licensed and accredited in-office surgical suite, Summit Surgery Center. He has performed hundreds of cosmetic operations of the eyelids, nose and face, as well as body contouring including abdominoplasty, liposuction and fat grafting.

He received his bachelor's degree from Columbia University in 1969, graduating with honors, and his MD from Yale University in 1973. He did general surgery training at UCLA and Tulane and completed his plastic surgery residency at the University of Colorado Medical Center. He was co-director of The Breast Center for 17 years, a multidisciplinary group practice devoted to the diagnosis and treatment of breast disorders.

He serves as an Associate Clinical Professor at UCLA Medical School's Division of Plastic Surgery and supervises and teaches young plastic surgeons completing their residencies. He has performed live surgery demonstrations at the Baker Gordon Symposium in Miami and at plastic surgery meetings in Korea, China and Russia.
