Dr. Randall L. Nguyen, MD

About Dr. Nguyen

Dr. Nguyen is a retinal specialist and vitreoretinal surgeon. He has been a physician with South Coast Retina Center since 2000. His clinical work covers complex retinal detachment repair, diabetic retinopathy, macular holes and macular degeneration.

He graduated magna cum laude in biology from the University of California, Irvine in three years, then earned his medical degree at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. While at Johns Hopkins he did research at the Wilmer Eye Institute. He trained in ophthalmology at the University of Southern California Doheny Eye Center and in retina at the University of British Columbia Vancouver Eye Center.

He gives each patient time and respect. He volunteered as the physician for a local summer camp for disabled and at-risk youths. He has also performed eye surgeries for patients in Mexico and in remote areas such as Tanzania.

He still makes personal house calls on occasion.
