He graduated from St. Louis University School of Medicine in 1974, then did a family practice residency at Oakwood Hospital in Dearborn, Michigan, where he was Chief Resident in his third year.
He served two years in the US Public Health Service in a medical shortage area in rural western Iowa. He also served as a physician with the US Air National Guard at Kulis ANG base in Anchorage, including time during Desert Storm. He has been chairman of the family practice department at both Alaska Regional Hospital and Providence Hospital.
Membership and fees

The membership plans include 24/7 access after business hours, extended office visits for patient evaluation, FAA exams for all classes and in-office CLIA-waived lab tests.
