About Dr. Lohse

Dr. Lohse earned a bachelor of science in mechanical engineering with highest honors from Purdue University. He attended medical school at Northwestern University and graduated Alpha Omega Alpha. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Washington and had subspecialty training in hand and upper extremity surgery at Vanderbilt University.

He is board certified in orthopaedic surgery by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, and he holds its subspecialty certificate in surgery of the hand. He cares for both adults and children. His focus includes nerve problems, tendon and ligament injuries, fractures and arthritis of the upper extremity, along with general orthopaedics.

He has worked on faster recovery after wrist fractures and has performed cartilage transplantation for arthritis. His approach starts with education, because he believes patients join in more fully when they understand their problem and options. He also believes treatment must be individualized, since one condition can affect two people very differently.

Away from work he enjoys running, skiing, hiking and camping.
