About Katie Figueroa

Figueroa is a licensed clinical psychologist based in Elmhurst, Illinois. Figueroa founded and owns Elmhurst Mental Health Services and is also a clinical supervisor there. Figueroa earned a doctorate from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology in 2015.

Figueroa has worked with children, adolescents and adults in therapeutic day schools, hospitals and outpatient clinics. Figueroa spent five years working at a Partial Hospitalization Program for children, adolescents and families. That history includes a Perinatal Intensive Outpatient Program.

Supervising psychology graduate students has also been part of that work. The work has included individual and group counseling and family therapy, plus community talks and parent support groups. Focus areas include anxiety, ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorders and school refusal.

They also include mood and behavior concerns, life transitions, parenting issues and eating disorders. Figueroa has a clinical interest in supporting the emotional health of families of children with special needs. The work centers on children, adolescents and families, and also includes young to middle aged adults.

With adolescents and adults, the work also covers stress, relationship difficulties, motivation and self-esteem. Figueroa sees the therapeutic relationship as the base of healing.
