At OWU (Ohio Wesleyan University) she majored in zoology and psyhcology while minoring in chemistry and playing varsity basketball. After graduating from the Medical College of Ohio (now the University of Toledo College of Medicine and Life Sciences) she completed her residency at UPMC (University of Pittsburgh Medical Center). She also has many youth-focused volunteer experiences including coaching various sports, facilitating Bible studies and youth-group gatherings, providing foster care, and supporting Bhutanese/Nepali refugees. She and her husband parent and intermittently homeschool their 2 children."
