R. Jeffrey Board, MD

"Dr. Board joined Raleigh Eye Center in 1984. He practices comprehensive pediatric ophthalmology and has a special interest in adult and pediatric eye muscle disorders. Dr. Board is a longstanding member and past President of Prevent Blindness of North Carolina. He is a consultant for North Carolina Medicaid and the Wake County Public School System. He participates in clinical research and continues to be involved in resident physician training. In 1994, he retired from the United States Army Reserve with the rank of Colonel. Dr. Board is a member of the American Association of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus (AAPOS), is Board Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, and a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the American College of Surgeons (ACS).

Dr. Board graduated from Duke University with a degree in medicine in 1974. He completed his internal medicine internship and ophthalmology residency at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in 1976 and 1978. He went on to complete fellowship training in pediatric ophthalmology at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto in 1981 and in ocular motility and strabismus at Smith-Kettlewell Institute of Visual Science in San Francisco in 1982. Dr. Board is an active staff member at Rex Hospital, WakeMed Main Campus, Vidant Medical Center in Greenville and Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst."
