About Emmett Family Medicine

"CareEmmett Family Medicine & Direct Primary Care (Emmett Family Medicine) is locally owned and operated by Jennifer L. Petrie, MD, a 5th generation Idahoans who moved to Emmett in 1989.  Our entire staff enjoys working and playing in Emmett.  We are committed to providing the highest quality, most affordable health care.  Proudly independent, we are agile, able to make the best decisions for each patient, and never allow non-medical executives to influence our medical practice.  Indeed, integrity defines Emmett Family Medicine.

Emmett Family Medicine's structure further allows a multitude of innovative solutions that actually assist patients in healthcare cost savings.  Naturally, traditional insurance of nearly every kind is accepted and welcomed; nevertheless, we offer deep discounts on cash payments.

One new and promising program is Direct Primary Care (DPC).  For nominal monthly fees paid directly to our clinic, patients receive Primary Care and same or next day services whenever needed, including a variety of inexpensive in-clinic labs.  No co-pays are collected and no insurance billing takes place.  This expedites your clinic time while allowing for phone and online visits to save you more time.  DPC is especially smart for self-employed individuals, small companies, large companies, and just plain savvy folks.

Coupling DPC with low premium/high deductible insurance found in Bronze Plans with a health savings account (HSA) on the health exchange saves patients a considerable amount of money.  This technique allows patients to keep their own money in an HSA that rolls over year to year, which is tax free going in and coming out.  Just as importantly, it provides the necessary cushion for catastrophic illnesses. Also, Emmett Family Medicine has contracts with labs, including x-ray, allowing out-of-pocket costs to be as little as 10% of what traditional insurance would cost for the same services. As you can see, the clear advantage to DPC is the restoration of the exclusive relationship between healthcare providers and patients. This prevents the corporation and insurance company quagmire.  Obviously, DPC is the right prescription for busy, productive individuals of all ages."
