"Dr. Kroes was born, raised, and educated in the Bay Area, and comes from a proud tradition of family practice. His father, Dr. John Kroes, was a beloved physician who for decades provided a deeply personal style of health care to local families. The younger Dr. Kroes, inspired by his father’s model of building lifelong connections with patients and by the unique challenges of family practice, decided early on to follow his father’s lead.
After completing undergraduate studies in biology at the University of California, Berkeley, and medical school at Stanford University, Dr. Kroes served families for over a decade at the Palo Alto Medical Foundation Clinic, where he cared for as many as three generations of family members at the same time. Dr. Kroes later opened Peninsula Doctor to carry his father’s vision of personal, relational, multigenerational medicine into a new future. He is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the American Society for Nutrition, and holds admitting privileges at Stanford, El Camino, and Sequoia Hospitals, and at the Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital. He also lectures at the Stanford University School of Medicine.
In his nearly two decades of service in family practice, Dr. Kroes has seen his patients grow from children to teenagers, and from teenagers to adults with families of their own. He has cared for newborns in their first days of life and for our community elders in their final years. Like his father before him, he remains dedicated to the simple and powerful conviction that doctors should know their patients, and that the finest, most effective healthcare unfolds as a lifelong conversation."
